Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Sloppy shredder
This shredder comes with a handy little box to catch the items you shred on the inside.Problem is the side is beveled out and about 1/4 of the item you shred falls on the outside of the shredder.I only use the box for storage and shred onto a flexible cutting board.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Maybe they have quality control issues
I have a Microplane zester that I use for hard cheeses. I recently bought this because the last time I used the Microplane, I accidently shredded my knuckles. I have real mixed feelings about this KitchenAid. First, its too expensive. Second, the plastic box does not sit underneath, as the rubber seal gets in the way.Maybe some of these plastic boxes are not properly sized? Its basically impossible to use the plastic box under the unit.Third, it was messy. Very messy. The Asiago and Manchego ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Stable and sharp
Excellent value and robust design.

Pros:
- Wide base offers a stable shredding experience unlike the narrower models that tend to tip over while you're grating.
- rubber rimmed base adds to the stability by preventing sliding on smooth surfaces.
- incredibly sharp, be cautious with your fingers. I am using and recommend a cutting glove to prevent injury. Using these devices requires violent actions that can easily cause you to loose control.
- The integrated measuring ... Read More

Terrific grater. Very sharp and I love the cup to not only catch what you have just grated but store it, since it comes with a lid.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - For the Good Eats fan
This box grater was reccomended to me by Alton Brown and I haven't regretted it one bit.Hand-grated is better than pre-shreadded in the flavor department.

Why do you want this grater? For one thing, it's large, so it is very efficient, as opposed to the flimsy small ones. It's a good-quality metal too, which is better for grating cheese than plastic. It has a wide base.If you're not going to get a six-side model, get this one. It's very sterdy. It has a tub for capturing your cheese, ...
