Amazon.com Review:
Perfect for making coffee, tea, soup, and hot chocolate athome, in the office, or in the dorm room, this 1,500-watt pot brings1-3/4 quarts of water to a boil more quickly than a stove or microwaveoven. It lifts off its power base for cordless pouring. Made of 18/10stainless steel with a matte-finish, black plastic lid, handle, andbottom, the handsome pot is polished to a mirror finish on the outsideand has a brushed-finish interior that's seamless for easy cleaning. For safety the pot shuts off automatically when water reaches boilingor if it boils dry, and the hinged lid opens only when a button on theroomy, stay-cool handle is pressed. A gauge displays the water leveland a light shows when the pot is operating. To prevent, say, tea bagsfrom plopping out, the lid's indentation at the pouring spout containssieve-holes. Measuring 6-1/4 inches in diameter and 8 inches high, thepot has a cord-wrap in the power base and carries a one-year warrantyagainst defects. --Fred Brack

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great electric kettle
Saw this featured on Good Eats with Alton Brown. We were in the market for some kind of kettle to use with our Bodum french press since heating up water in a pot or in the microwave just didn't really work well.We love the idea of an open kettle that you can clean easily as we have hard water and if you leave water sitting in a conventional kettle on the stove, eventually the inside gets coated in mineral deposits and you can't really reach them well. This kettle is VERY fast to heat water (or ... Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Don't leave this kettle unattended!
I bought this because of favorable reviews from various sources and I still use it after a little over a year, but it's not without issues.A few months after purchase, the automatic shutoff stopped working. It still boils water quickly and efficiently, but I have to watch it and turn it off manually each time.I wouldn't buy it again.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - DOA
This item was received dead on arrival. As in inoperative. I guess I could use it as a pitcher.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Common sense and comparison to the Rival (plastic) kettle
The 675 kettle has been used at least once a day for several weeks now (after receiving it as a gift from my folks who love theirs). It has now replaced a plastic Rival kettle that the household has not been sorry to see go. Although the Rival had longterm daily use, the 675 is a welcome addition for mainly one big reason: no spills!

The 675 heats liquid quickly, yes, but I simply love the generous pour spout -- we hadn't realized how much we missed fast, dripless pouring. The Rival's ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very useful
I've been using this hot pot for a few months and have no complaints.I use it at least once a day.I hesitated to boil eggs, though, when I saw the opening inside the pot to the water gauge in the handle. What would happen if a raw egg cracked while cooking?Would the liquid egg end up inside the water gauge? How would I ever clean that out?Well, I've had a few eggs crack while cooking - I've found letting a cold egg come to room temperature before cooking it seems to prevent cracks - but never ...
