Product Description:
BARBIE STARS AS RAPUNZEL, A COURAGEOUS, IMAGINATIVE GIRL WHO IS LOCKED AWAY IN A TOWER. THROUGH THE POWER OF HER OWN CREATIVE ENERGIES, SHE MAGICALLY PAINTS HER WAY TO A LIFE OF FREEDOM AND LOVE.
Amazon.com:
Barbie as Rapunzel will thrill children aged 3 to 8, following the success of Barbie in the Nutcracker. Barbie may have started life as a doll in the 1950s, but these days she's also making her name as a computer-animated film star. In a modern twist on the classic fairy tale, Barbie stars as Rapunzel--a courageous and imaginative princess who is locked away in a tower by the evil witch Gothel. With help from her friends (Penelope the cute purple dragon and Hobie the rabbit) and through the power of her own creative energies, she paints her way out of the tower to find freedom, truth, and love.
Anjelica Huston is memorable as the vocal talent behind the unbalanced and scary Gothel, and excellent sound effects and colors greatly enhance the film. Hugo the mighty dragon, Otto the nasty ferret, and the sword fight between the feuding kings will hold the attention of those brothers of Barbie fans who are less than enthusiastic about watching this 80-minute film, but essentially this is a little girls' film and the outrageously pink castle, the magical fashion show before the masked ball, and the fairy-tale wedding will make it a firm favorite for that audience. --Tracey Hogan

- OK Movie for Barbie Fans
I watched this movie with my little sister and she thought it was good. But I thought that it was just OK (hence the 3-star rating). At the end, it turns into one big soap opera, and I thought they could've used a lot better dialogue. The prince says the famous line 'Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!' only once, and it's in Rapunzel's dream, which lasts for only about 10 seconds. But other than those downers, I thought it had a cute message and a whole bunch of cute dresses!!! If you are a ... Read More

- A beautiful movie!
Good grief, so what if it's not a clone to the Brothers Grimm fairy tale? It's much more interesting than the Brothers Grimm! In the "original" Rapunzel, all she does is sit around in the tower until some prince loses his eyesight and comes for her. Besides, Barbie doesn't have to make a perfect reproduction of all the stories she tells! And that review by "A Customer".... Oh, my goodness, who wants to listen to that kind of whining? This is a LITTLE GIRL'S MOVIE!!!!! I repeat, A LITTLE GIRL'S MOVIE! ... Read More

- Maybe too scary for some
While my daughter (4) loves all the Barbie movies to date, this is the only one she has asked me turn off.She said the bad witch was too scarry/mean for her and asked me to turn it off.The animation is nice, as usual.

- Entertaining lesson in forgiveness
My 6 year old daughter really likes this movie, a CGI animated film.At first I didn't pay much attention to it, but my husband and I just finished watching it with her and I realize now what a well-made and entertaining movie it is.
A story-within-a-story, with Barbie narrating to her little sister, Kelly, about a young, honest girl named Rapunzel.Rapunzel is essentially a prisoner to Gogol, who has "cared" for her since she was a baby. However, one day, fate has a hand in allowing Rapunzel ... Read More
