I only have a few knives, but needed a place to store them. This does the job! It doesn't take up much counter space and is solidly made.

now that i finally got a super sharp edge on my old and heavy 10" chef's knife, i thought it would be nice to stick it somewhere other than on top of the drawer tray. i also have a long skinny 10" that never gets dull. i have recently bought an 8" forschner/victorinox chef's knife (5 stars). time for a storage solution.
got this block this afternoon. looks cool, BUT ! my 2 chef's knifes did not fit the block's two large slots. blades bottomed out short of fully inserting, with about 2" to 3" ... Read More

- Good for narrow knifes
First of all, Amazon claimed the list price is $40 which is not true.I found it at Bed Bath and Beyond and it's regular price is $19.99.
It's hard to tell if your knifes will go in all the slots because several slots are pretty narrow.I couldn't fit all my knifes in because of the narrow slots.If you are not sure if it would work for you, then you should not buy it online and waste the shipping costs both ways.
I am disappointed at Amazon's false price claim.

I WAS "TOTALLY" DISAPPOINTED. MY HENCKELS KNIVES DIDN'T FIT "PROPERLY" IN THE SLOTS.I RECOMMEND PURCHASING THE "ENTIRE" SET OF "YOUR CHOICE" OF HENCKEL BLOCK KNIVES.

J.A. Henckels' knife storage block is ok for those of us who look for a workable reasonably priced way of storing knives.The wood is not as highly polished as it appears on the photos and the little Henckels logo block on the front is of a slightly different grain of wood.However, everything matches well enough to put on my new kitchen counter and I enjoy the convenience of countertop storage.The price at $19.99 is reasonable in my opinion for this very functional item.
