Product Description:
Whatever your outdoor activity, Cobra's compact handheld CB radios are a great way to stay in touch with friends. Complete access to 10 National Weather Channels (7 NOAA and 3 International) for the latest weather information. And there are no license or service fees! Cobra's HH ROADTRIP incorporates SoundTracker, a patent-pending technology that dramatically improves the sound quality of the transmission and reception of CB radio signals.
Amazon.com Product Description:
Cobra's aptly named HH Road Trip 40-channel handheld CB radio is ready to travel anywhere you do, bringing access to 10 NOAA weather channels and a four-mile range from its 4 watts of power. The onboard SoundTracker system reduces audible noise and interference by up to 90 percent over non-SoundTracker devices. Whether you're using it for emergency backup or convenient conversation between vehicles or camps, the HH Road Trip brings you quality CB communication.
High/low power switch reduces power consumption, extending battery life during spells when high power is not required. The unit operates on nine AA batteries (alkaline or Ni-Cd; batteries not included), or runs off your vehicle battery through the supplied DC cord with cigarette-lighter plug. An included magnet-mount antenna ensures maximum range.
The Citizens Band lies between the shortwave broadcast and 10-meter Amateur radio bands and was established by law in 1949. The Class D two-way communications service was opened in 1959. FCC regulations permit only "transmissions" (one party to another) rather than "broadcasts" (to a wide audience); advertising is not allowed on CB Channels because it is considered "broadcasting." Citizens Band (CB) Radio operators are not required to obtain an FCC license to operate their CB equipment or provide station identification. Nevertheless, an operator of a CB radio station is still required to comply with the communications act and with the rules of CB Radio Operation.

- Cobra HH Road Trip
I tried other handhelds and they were useless. This one runs off the cars electrical outlet and is easy to move from car to car. My commute is mostly interstate with lots of construction. The radio has already saved me valuable time when there is a backup. It is easy to hook up and operate. It has good range for a portable. The antenna stays secure on the roof. The sound quality is excellent. I think it is a good choice for the commuter or vacationer.

this is a good radio for road trips with the rug rats.i use every vacation.if you need to know what lane to get in to get around a wreck or if you what to know where a good place to stop for lunch is on a budget or where is the best gas prices.who better then a trucker, with this you can do it.also dont forget about the weather this one has it.
Rating:
- Noisy
Cobra Road Trip handheld CB, purchased to replace an older Road Trip unit that failed, noisier than the old unit, as tested weekly in an emergency preparedness drill, using a portable emergency auto battery for power. Transmit function better than receive function, same as in the replaced unit. New unit overall about fourth best of 7 CB units I have used since the mid '50s. GMRS service in which I am licensed might be better.

- Served our purposes well.
The Cobra HH Road Trip was perfect for our use.We specifically purchased it for a road trip with our Corvette Club.Even though the magnetic antenna didn't adhere to the fiberglass body of the car, the standard antenna worked well as long the range was relatively small. Our nineteen car "convoy" stayed in contact and the reception was clear. The hand held unit was easy to use and didn't eat the batteries.

This is a great handheld for short distance use.It works well in convoys or groups when used with the base antenna.I would not recommend it trying to transmit over a long distance.Excellent emergency unit.
