Product Description:
Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills three thousand years of the history of power in to forty-eight well explicated laws. As attention--grabbing in its design as it is in its content, this bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun-tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other great thinkers. Some laws teach the need for prudence ("Law 1: Never Outshine the Master"), the virtue of stealth ("Law 3: Conceal Your Intentions"), and many demand the total absence of mercy ("Law 15: Crush Your Enemy Totally"), but like it or not, all have applications in real life. Illustrated through the tactics of Queen Elizabeth I, Henry Kissinger, P. T. Barnum, and other famous figures who have wielded--or been victimized by--power, these laws will fascinate any reader interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

- A Good read
The "48 Laws of Power" is extremely insightful and justifiably detailed and contradicting. It is a perfect reference book. To my fellow reviewers I ask that you Lighten Up! Do not take it as a way of life.
After I purchased the book I did not read it chapter after chapter. If I did I would have missed the sole purpose of the book-to inform AND INSTRUCT. I peruse the table of contents for the laws that are applicable to my situation.
Prior to reading it, in many aspects of my ... Read More

- What comes around goes around...this is setting you up for some serious trouble
This is the antithesis of what most successful leaders recommend. It's manipulation at it's worst. If you want to be as successful as Dale Carnegie, Mary Kay and others uber-successful people, then go with The 17 Laws of Success by Napolean Hill.Or even just Think and Grow Rich.If you want success and happiness and a joy filled life - don't read this book. These 48 laws will just dig you into a dark hole of lies and manipulation. If that's what you want your life to be, go with it.I've ... Very interesting laws that Does work. I think this is a good read because it really teaches you how to play the game of Life. This book teaches you the game of life so that you can survive and rise to the top.The laws the robert greene teaches really work. This book pretty much tells you about the law in the 48 chapters; in each chapter he gives Many many true stories which are all real life examples taken from history. For example, he talks a lot about the ancient times in China; and how people ... - This book will only bring you to doom.
Having heard so many people go on about Robert Greene's books I decided to read them. The only reason he gets 2 stars from me instead of 1 is for his small history lessons in the books. First lets just say Mr. Greene is now putting out a book with 50 cent so I really have little respect for him. But I guess thats who his books are geared twords the gangster rap crowd. Ok I know alot of dumb people who have read this book and come away from it thinking they are some type of Machevelli or Sun TzU but ... Read More
