- fills a special niche
There's nothing quite like The Sun, which is why I regard it so highly. For one thing it publishes intelligent and--for lack of a better word--"spiritual" fiction, the kind you can't find in Harper's or The New Yorker which would probably reject such pieces as not being sufficiently cynical or "sophisticated" or because their authors are not famous or very trendy or critically acclaimed or otherwise "hot." The essays likewise are refreshingly, well, fresh...new voices that deserve to be heard. And ... Read More

- A Great Read - Especially for Writers
The only complaint that I can make about The Sun Magazine is that I get nothing done the day it arrives.I start by telling myself I'll pace myself and make it last like a box of fine chocolates or a great bottle of wine - but before I know it I've reached the end or "Sunbeams" quotesand the afternoon is gone. - From The Sun to The Sunset
I read The Sun for years and enjoyed much of it until one day I noticed how I was feeling sad when I read so much of what this magazine printed about the misery of life. The mass media already has misery covered in their agenda. Let me know if Sy the publisher has decided to promote more positivity in this magazine and I'll start reading it again.Oh, and also, did he ever include more women writers yet?

- My sanctuary, My Home, My Sun
The Sun Magazine has filled me with so much compassion for people i never knew i had. I moved to NY from the UK and i found this wonderful publication on a whim as i was browsing through shelves at my local universal news store.
I immediately subscribed, I have had every issue since ive been in NY, so its a personal thing for me.
The stories are wonderful, the poetry is fantastic, the 'readers write' section is absolutely stunning and 'sunbeams' is without doubt the best end to a ... Read More

- Finally!
I have read many magazines, and they captured my attention for a few pages at best. Then I read an issue of the Sun sometime around the year 2000, and I was captivated.I read it cover to cover, and have been subscribing ever since. The other reviewers do an excellent job describing the format; I simply want to add my praise.
