Virginia exile Jason Mraz grew up listening to Dave Matthews and Agents of Good Roots, local heroes whose frat-friendly influences are much in evidence on his major-label debut. Producer John Alagia (Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer) augments Mraz's SoCal cohorts with Agents' rhythm section, dramatically expanding and polishing songs like "Curbside Prophet" and "You and I Both," which previously appeared in looser, less developed versions on Mraz's self-released live recordings. But fans from the singer-songwriter's coffeehouse years need not despair. Mraz's witty lyrics and easygoing folk-blues stylings (think Jack Johnson on Prozac) are still very much in evidence. He's also in fine voice and, on two standout tracks--"Who Needs Shelter" and "Absolutely Zero"--rivals Neil Finn in his ability to invoke the spirit of Paul McCartney. Waiting for My Rocket to Come showcases an artist who, while still finding his own direction, is clearly off to a great start.--Bill Forman
Album Description:
His debut album is packed with witty, wordy, smart, funky & astonishingly catchy pop songs that do right by the bestsinger-songwriter traditions of Elektra. 2002.

- Great guilty pleasure
Let's face it, Jason Mraz is pretty much like the B-rated version of John Mayer when he came out. It wasn't exactly like he was all that original when he came out. Nevertheless, I really liked the remedy when it came out when i first started high school. I thought it was creative, unique, and a very fun, upbeat style. I decided to listen to Jason Mraz again after a friend was a huge fan of his. I downloaded this album and thought most of the tracks were simply awesome! The songs were all simple(very ... Read More

- Great Debut Album
This is a great debut album by Mraz, unfortunately for me, I had bought his live CD first. His live CD over-powers this CD. Albeit a great CD, there's another one that's better. Tonight, Not Again.

- Great vibe
I like him a lot.A bit mellow. Being a mom, I need mellow.

- A Message to Jason
The one time my friend and I caught his live show, we were put through hours or boring chat from Mr. Mraz. People come to hear you sing Jason, not jabber on muchadoaboutnothing. I'm not sure if he was drunk, or other, but his sets were boring and it made me realize so is his music. Good voice, but learn to take it more seriously.
