Amazon.com Review:
Recent reports from the EPA estimate that the indoor environment may be two to five times as polluted as outdoor air--and since most Americans spend 90% of their time indoors, that poor air quality can produce harmful immune-system reactions. An essential for anyone with allergies or asthma, this Honeywell air cleaner uses patented technology to rid the home or office of dust, dander, pollen, mold spores, dust mites, and smoke. Specially designed air intake and exhaust grills and a specially designed blade produce maximum airflow and minimum noise, while a high-efficiency HEPA filter traps more than 99% of even the tiniest particles. Sound-reducing insulation further dampens operational noise, and the Intelli-Check electronic indicator lets you know when it's time to change filters. Three power levels let you customize air cleaning to your own needs. The Honeywell 17000 changes all the air in an average 12- by 14-foot room six complete times an hour. It has a robust Clear Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 130 for tobacco smoke, pollen, and dust, indicating the volume of filtered air delivered and thus the speed of filtering. --Mary Park

- Great performance and reasonably priced.
I recently started experiencing allergy symptoms and my doctor recommended possibly picking up an air filter.I was assuming I might have to pay as much as a couple hundred dollars for anything with decent quality, but this product definitely proved me wrong.
It is fairly quiet, has four main settings and has made a significant difference in the air quality of my room.I've noticed the collection of dust in my room has decreased and some of the allergy-related symptoms I was having ... Read More

- Good quality, and good white noise.
My 10 month-old daughter has had a humidifier in her room during the winter months, and with summer coming up, I was worried about her being able to sleep without some similar white noise. Initially, I thought I'd get some sort of electronic "nature sounds" type of device, but I figured I should spend a little more and get an item that actually *does* something other than make noise.
Keep in mind, my goal wasn't to find something that was whisper quiet. And in my past experiences with ... Read More

- Great air purifier
We have had one of these units for years and recently bought another to help another asthma sufferer in my family. The white noise helps them sleep, and I notice significantly less dust around where this thing works.I would highly recommend this product.

- not all button features work
This filter has filtered just fine, though the filter check feature using the buttons does not seem to work. It would be nice to now when the carbon pre-filter needs changing without guessing. Also, Honeywell's website claims this product's HEPA filter never needs changing, but the product box and the manual seem to indicate that it should be replaced every five years. Still doing research on that one.

- It works!
My allergies are slightly better, but not completely gone from the clean air this HEPA filter produces. I can tell the air is cleaner and carries less cat hair, dust, mold, etc, so this is a good thing. It isn't very quiet, you can hear the filter, even on low. Overall I am glad we got this filter, it may be big and clunky, but it works.
