Amazon.com Review:
This attractive brushed stainless-steel electric kettle boils up to 1-3/4 quarts of water for tea, coffee, or instant oatmeal and soups. The 1,500-watt power base heats water quickly and, for safety, automatically shuts off when it reaches a boil. The cordless kettle conveniently lifts off the base to travel to the breakfast table, desk, or wherever tea is being served and has a cool bottom so it can rest on any surface. Unlike many other electric kettles, the heating element on this one is concealed within the jug. This design prevents calcium build-up, which can alter the flavor of hot water. The kettle also has a button that opens the lid with a single touch for easy refilling and an easy-to-read water level indicator. Other perks on this jug include a large, stay-cool handle and a wide lip for pouring. Cuisinart covers this cordless electric jug kettle under a 3-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Unreliable, heavy, expensive
I thought Cuisinart would be reliable and this was an attractive design. It stopped working within one week. The store gave me another one and that one stopped working after about a month.I had to send it to Cuisnart, who replaced it.It worked for a while but quit shortly after the one year warranty expired.Very poor quality control for one of the more expensive kettles.Get another brand.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Looks nice, that's it
We got this kettle as a gift for our new house.
After six months, the kettle started turning off instantly, making it useless. We looked at the brochure that came with it and thought, ah great, it comes with a 3 year warranty!
Called the cuisinart customer service - they asked for the serial number and informed me that this kettle was made about 4 years ago, so they will not service this with no receipt. I tried to explain that this was a gift, and we have everything BUT the receipt, ... Read More

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Nice when it works but annoying faults
I am on my 3rd one of these.I like the kettle a lot - when it works - but they seem to be prone to 2 faults:
1: the button that opens the lid tends to stick, so you can't open the kettle to refill it.More importantly...
2: the metal pin in the base unit (copper I think), which needs to be inplace to make contact with the underside of the kettle for it to turn on, tends to get stuck out of place, resulting in no power. And you can't open up the base to investigate/correct the problem. ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - simple fix to failure to work
Like many other failures mine would not turn on.Called Cuisinart; although within guarantee period they needed receipt, Visa bill not sufficient.Simple mechanical fix:remove the bottom cover of the base recepticleMiddle contact needed to be bent toward contact point on pot.My failure caused by overheating and bending of this contact.I crilled 4 small holes in top of base unit; improved ventilation should help prevent future problem.Works fine now.We love the pot; its too bad that poor design ... Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A great machine but has a short life.
I have owned two or three of this particular brand/model - I've lost track. I use it every day, often several times a day. It's the nicest looking of all the cordless kettles. The lid pops open easily for filling with a flick of the thumb. It heats water quickly and fairly quietly. There is no mineral buildup to worry about.

The only problem I've had with this product is its expense and that it only lasts just over a year. It works infallibly and then I start to see small puddles of water on the ... Read More
