This video was a good example of what it is like growing up with an alcoholic.It may be outdated but still is very informative.

This is a great movies about a father that drinks to much alcohol, and how his drinking affected his family. It shows the importance of recovery from alcoholism.

- should be mandatory viewing in all treatment facilities
although a bit dated (film made in '86)..the movie depicts very clearly what it is like to be an active alcoholic, and what that does to a person's family.We see the legal problems, the work problems, the family problems that are caused because of someone's drinking.
Also shown is the co-dependency of several family members, as they make excuses for and cover-up the father's behavior.We see the verbal and physical abuse they have to endure.

As an Addiction counselor I have used a VHS version of this film, showing clips to generate a discussion amongst those who are in recovery for their own alcohol addiction or those who are recovering from living with a heavy/problem drinker. It is a little dated now but it still manages to affect each audience everytime in a real and therapeutic way. Certainly not a plesant film to watch from end to end, it is difficult to watch in parts, but well worth being familiar with: like "When a Man Loves ... Read More

Haven't watched this yet...a vhstape to DVD I ordered was soooo much better than the vhs tape...so hope this is the same
