Iogear USB Print Server

Product Description:
IOGear's palm sized 1-port USB Print Server allows any networked computer to share an USB printer. It complies with USB 1.1 specifications, and provides users with an auto-sensing 10/100Base-T port. It works with either 10BaseT or 100BaseT networks. This unit also supports multiple protocols and multiple operating systems, and it integrates Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) in this print server to allow users to print from any computer over a LAN/WAN or the Internet by specifying the device's URL. The built-in web management feature provides more convenience by allowing the user to configure, monitor and even reset the print server via a web browser. This eliminates the need to place the printer right next to the computer. Print jobs can be sent to a printer in another country just as easily as to a printer in the same office. Why bother sending a degraded fax image while you can print an original at the destination?

Features:
  • Easily connect your USB printer to a network
  • Allows multiple computers to share one USB printer on the network
  • Print from any computer on your network or from across the Internet
  • 10/100 Mbps auto-sensing
  • Compatible with Windows 98 SE, Me, NT, 2000, XP, Mac OS 8.6 or Later, Novell, Unix/Linux

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Good box, obscure configuration.
Just bought this used and I thought I would post how to get it to work.

1. If you're using XP, you must have IPX protocol enabled. Then use the iogear print monitor application to configure IP.

2. If you're using OSX, you must use appletalk to connect to this print server. Alternatively you can use IP (lpr) if you configure the GPSU01's IP configuration via a windows box first.

If you want a print server that just works, you should look for something else.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Deceptive product and business!
Beware! This print server does not work for all-in one printers and they do not disclose this anywhere on the manual nor their website.Be also aware of 15% restocking fee plus shipping charge that ANT charges, information which is not disclosed anywhere on their webstie!!! There is no way of talking to a live person, only via emails which they give themselves one business day to reply.Took me 4 days to find out about the return info and to get the RMA number.I would NEVER shop at Atlanta ... Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Nice price if it only worked
Well, this works for two out of the five PCs now...not very useful. When the AC outlet supplying the power to the server went out, the functionality never came back after the power came back on. The PS Admin software can't see the print server, even though I know the connection is there because another PC on the network can still print on it. Too frustrating. The HP server with HP JetAdmin costs more, but life is too short to deal with this piece of #@#$%.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It's Great
I have just purchased and installed this print server and I am more than satisifed. I followed the instructions which were complete and easy to understand and was up and running in less that 1/2 hour. There was no trouble with the network recognizing the server and it works flawlessly with my HP 1300 mutifunction printer. Great buy!! Would highly recommend to all.
