Maybe because it recounts the greatest air battle in history, achieving the greatest aerial battle in film history. Maybe because it has such a terrific cast (Harry Andrews, Michael Caine, Trevor Howard, Curt Jurgens, Laurence Olivier, Nigel Patrick, Christopher Plummer, Michael Redgrave, Ralph Richardson, Robert Shaw, Patrick Wymark, and Edward Fox). Maybe because it's so technically well-made, thanks to the Bond team of producer Harry Saltzman and director Guy Hamilton and the great cinematographer Freddie Young. Excellent DVD, no music score on this version however the collector's edition does have the original VHS music score.
Rating: - An Israeli Pilot Fought for Britain ???
Yes this is a terrific movie,especially the dog
fight scenes.This movie shows how Britain was
really hanging on by her fingertips.
What I also found interesting was after the movie was over,they showed a list of allied
pilots who flew for Britain.They had a column for the number of pilots from each country ,the country they came from and lastly the number killed in battle.The very last pilot was one singleIsraeli who fought and was NOT killed in battle.

The film completely illustrates the courage and the determination of the men and boys of the RAF who were so outnumbered and out gunned!But they showed an undaunted attitude towards he enemy that will live in the annuals of arial combat for all time.
Splendidly produced with true authenticity and attention to detail.

I don't know what all the complaints are about.Perhaps they are reviews of the DVD disaster?The score and credits have been restored.The HD transfer looks and sounds fantastic!
