Product Description:
Would you read over 500 book reviews a month? The staff at Bookmarks do, and we distill the results into each issue of the magazine. Our readers enjoy summaries of hundreds of opinions from every major newspaper and magazine for a comprehensive look at the latest fiction, nonfiction, and children's books.
We look at classic books as well. Our "Book by Book" author profiles focus on the major works of extraordinary writers, from Charles Dickens and Mark Twain to Franz Kafka and Virginia Woolf. Bookmarks also covers genres from the best American biographies to great mystery series, and we consult a new team of experts for each issue to recommend the best books on a specific nonfiction subject: consciousness, games, ancient Greece, magic, travel, true crime--you name it.
Since the best books often become known by word of mouth, Bookmarks publishes unique lists of our subscribers' favorites--they uncover terrific, little-known gems. Each issue also features a profile of a different book club discussing the books its members loved...and the ones that caused the most awkward silences.
Bookmarks is a colorful, smart, decidedly unstuffy guide to the best in new and classic books.

- Excellent Book Reviews
I have long been a reader of the New York Times and the Washington Post Sunday Book Reviews. When I saw that Amazon.com had this magazin available I was both excited and hopeful (would it live up to the Times and Post). It has exceeded my expectations. The features and reviews are clear and well written.I like the way that each featured book has multiple reviews.I have started a binder, with each issue being added, as I find myself returning to them often.I look forward to each new issue.

- a great gift for book lovers - a great gift period
I started picking this up maybe two years ago.I love it.It's got feed back from customers [I gave mine and got a year's subscription free], author profiles and reviews. The reviews are samples of what a variety of critics have said in papers around the country - then they print a concensus - it's terrific.

- Recomended Reading
Each issue is Christmas.I can't wait to open it up and see what is inside. It takes weeks to get through each issue and I bookmark several selections to buy.I have read books that happenstance might not have offered. Different genres, authors and interesting titles. This month I am reading Factory Girls and I am experiencing another world.
I have lent my issues to friends and they all end up subscribing.
