The ice cream will get a nice little push out of the scoop and into the bowl with this clever gadget. A non-stick coating helps dislodge any reluctant confection. The countoured handle with non-slip grip provides extra leverage and the thin beak will slide right into even hard ice cream. Curved side edges will roll the ice cream into perfectly round scoops in generous dollops. A flat back accommodates both rectangular and round containers.

The i-series is Oxo's latest foray into intelligent product design. This i-series ice-cream scoop breaks through the hard surface of freezer-cold ice cream with itsaluminum head that's sculpted into a quasi-egg shape. A thin tip at the top pierces hard ice-cream as it uses its curved edges to gather perfectly rounded servings, then releases them into a bowl with a touch of a button. Rating: - Scoops well, but non-stick coating is a real problem
The shape is great and it scoops very well.The ejector button is a key feature as well.Unfortunately, none of that matters.As others have said, the non-stick coating on this flakes right off.It's not always just coming off in distinct flakes either.I remember looking at the nicely shaped scoop of vanilla I'd just put into a bowl and being a little horrified to see that the surface of the ice cream wasn't the nice yellow you'd expect, but instead had a noticeable gray tinge to it.I don't ... Rating: - The design is great but the coating peels off easily. Avoid.
As are most Oxo products, this scoop is easy to use but unfortunatly the coating peeled off within a few months even though we always hand washed it. Unless you like flakes in your ice cream, avoid this one.
Rating: - OXO still rocks
My obsession with OXO continues.This ice cream scoop is boss.Simple design with a button to push out stubborn scoops of ice cream.If your ice cream is super hard, then run this scoop under hot water for a few seconds to give it a little boost.

The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because the detergent from the dishwasher tends to collect in the grooves which creates a little more work to get the scoop completely clean.If I washed it by hand I wouldn't have that problem though. ... Read More
Rating: - non-stick coating flakes off
I have many OXO products in my kitchen and will continue to buy them, but the non-stick coating on this one started to flake off (and into the ice cream).I tossed this one and am buying a different one.
