A former gunslinger is forced to take up arms again when he and his cattle crew are threatened by a corrupt lawman.Studio: Buena Vista Home VideoRelease Date: 06/06/2006Starring: Robert Duvall Annette BeningRun time: 139 minutesRating: RDirector: Kevin Costner
Amazon.com:
Released almost exactly 11 years after Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven, Kevin Costner's Open Range proved yet again that the Western is the classic American genre. While it lacks the thematic impact of Eastwood's masterpiece, Costner's first film since 1997's ill-fated The Postman returns the actor/director of Dances With Wolves to the open prairies of America--in this case the free-range frontier of 1882--where legal "free-grazing" cattle drives were falling prey to empire-building land-owners. In the wake of territorial murder, free-grazing cowboys Boss (Robert Duvall) and Charley (Costner) seek vengeful justice against the ruthless rancher (Michael Gambon) who threatens their law-abiding survival. A feisty ally (the late Michael Jeter, in his next-to-final film role) and a doctor's sister (Annette Bening) offer support during climactic shootouts, masterfully staged with the shock and suddenness of real-life gunfire. Rich in character development and thick-hided humor, this handsome production redeemed Costner's directorial career with a well-told story (by Craig Storper, based on Lauran Paine's novel The Open Range Men), flawless performances, and stunning Canadian locations. --Jeff Shannon

Got this movie for my boss. Saw it on TV several times but never got to see it all. He has watched this whole movie & likes it. I plan on watching it next. He said it is a good move & I do love Kevin Costner.

- What a great little western
I really enjoy this movie. From the peaceful beginning scenes of wide open spaces to the really believable shoot-out scenes to the "chic flick" romance at the end.It all works.
Robert Duvall is such a great actor. And Costner? He didn't do too bad either.

- Outstanding service
This person went out of her way to make sure my purchase was a good experience. When I order movies in the future and I see that this person is the supplier I will use her services first.

- " THERE AN'T NOTHING THATS HAPPEN IN THIS OLD TOWN, THATS BEEN A SURPRISE, EXCEPT YOU!"
This is one of my favorite western movies, I loved Kevin Costner, and Robert Duvall! They are awesome actors! I loved the special true, friendship between them in this movie!
My favorite scenes in this movie is the scene, where Charlie(Kevin Costner), and Boss(Robert Duvall) drink tea with Sue (Annette Bening), it touched my heart! And I loved the part where Charlie, and Sue are standing on the porch, saying goodbye, and declaring their love for each other, in such a special, sweet ... Read More

- Incredible Film
If you liked Lonesome Dove, you'll love Open Range. The poor reviews of this movie are by those that just want things to move at a quicker pace and want more violence. This movie -- like Lonesome Dove and other great westerns take the time to develop the characters and the gun battle at the end of the film is incredible. The tension builds slowly through the movie and it has a very satisfying ending.Great flick. One of my all-time favorite films.
