Product Description:
Give your old film camera the boot! It's time to replace your old film camera with an easy-to-use Gateway digital camera, and forget about the hassles of film and developing--now you can take all the pictures you want! The new 5 megapixel DC-M50 digital camera from Gateway produces high-resolution images with enough detail to make prints up to 11x14 inches. Learn the ropes of going digital with this camera that weighs less than a can of soda! The 3X optical zoom provides sharp detail letting you take in the scene with a wide-angle view, or zoom in on the action. The digital zoom function can increase the maximum magnification of the optical zoom lens up to two times. Or get ready for your own close up and take a self-portrait using the 10 second self-timer. The date and time are recorded as part of the image information, so you'll never have to guess when your shots were taken. Determine image composition while looking into the large 1.8-inch TFT LCD monitor or viewfinder. The built-in LCD panel allows you to see the image you've taken, which will show you what portion of the scene will be captured by the camera. The 32 MB CompactFlash memory card allows you to store your photos. You can then view your shots and delete the ones you don't want, making room for pictures you want to keep as you take them. And when you are ready, the images can be transferred to your PC to share with your family and friends. Want more than still pictures? The DC-M50 also has a movie mode that lets you shoot video clips. This popular feature lets you record short bursts of video footage, which can be great fun with family and friends. And that's not all! The voice memo feature allows you to record 10 seconds of sound just after a photograph is taken. Four exposure modes allow extensive control over general photo taking. White Balance and ISO (adjusting sensitivity to light) can be set automatically or manually.

  • 3x optical zoom, 2x digital zoom with macro mode

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - It's sucks..............
What a horrible camera.....heavy, bulky, slow, I think the worst of all was the LCD, its dark, blurry, slow.....The pictures most of all are blurry.....
And the battery die quickly....Dont let impress for the 5 MP...I had to sell it on ebay (almost as a gift, there are really other option.....

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Camera Is Excellent. Read The Instructions and It works Fine
I can't believe all the bad reviews!!!

Read the directions people!
If you hold the button halfway down it focuses, and then you can take the picture instantly. If you just try to press and take it will take a few seconds for the photo to take.

I love this camera, it takes great pictures! I also did not notice the batteries dying quickly, maybe they left it on between photo's?

Great camera, sturdy! Love the short movie taking mode!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Gateway 5.0 megapixel camera
I agree that it is not on par with other "5 megapixel" cameras, but it was also much more affordable. The picture quality was crisp and easy to transfer to my computer. No need to buy a docking station or other peripheral hardware. If you're looking for an affordable camera on a budget, this does the trick.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Piece of junk!
I bought this camera directly from Gateway.I, unfortunately, kept it too long to send it back.

When I first received it, I took about 10 pictures.8 of them were very grainy/blurry.From a 5MP camera, that's ridiculous.I assumed (fallaciously) that I simply was not using the camera correctly.

My attempt to learn to use the camera 'properly' is what caused my delay in returning it, and forced me to sell it on eBay for significantly less than I paid for it.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - You get what you pay for!
I thought this camera would be a great value for the amount of Mega-pixels. It isn't worth it.

Issues:

1. Horrible lag from the moment you push the button to actual shutter movement.

2. The camera's body and telescoping lense feel CHEAP and poorly fitted.

3. I'm having memory card issues/errors that I haven't been able to solve yet.

Save your money and get a recognized brand.
