This saucepan a true kitchen essential can be used for everything from cooking rice to reheating soup. With the smooth stainless steel surface and even heat distribution throughout the pan this saucepans will help you create perfect sauces soups or chilis every time.The KitchenAid 4-qt. Sauce Pan with Cover features professional performance provided by five-ply construction. The three-ply aluminum core is permanently bound (clad) between two layers of stainless steel. The Clad construction provides even heating throughout the entire pan - bottom and all the way up the sides. The 18/10 stainless interior provides the brightest most durable luster of all stainless steel. The non-reactive 18/10 stainless steel interior cooking surface will not discolor or affect flavors. The individually cast and polished 18/10 cast stainless steel handles are rounded and ergonomically curved for natural wrist position and comfort. Pans with stainless steel interiors are completely oven and broiler safe. Skillets with nonstick are oven safe to 500°F should not be used directly under a broiler. Dishwasher safe. - Only drawback is the handle...
Very nice construction and a very convenient size - a pound of pasta fits perfectly. Works very well on our flat-top stove. The only drawback I can find is that the main handle is a thin piece of steel about 1/4" thick and 3/4" wide. Given you'll have a lot of weight with a large pot like this, one handed operation tends to dig into your hand and you don't have enough to grab to tip the pot. Sure you can use the helper handle but when dumping a pot of boiling water into a collinder, you don't want ... Read More

I previously purchased the 9-piece set, but this piece is essential. Not as big/bulky as my 6-qt. stockpot, but a perfect size for so many things.Love the helper handle!

Bought this pan recently from Amazonfor $97 with free shipping: a bargain considering it retails from stores (and KitchenAid's website) for $140. Incidentally, Amazon are now showing that this pan should retail for $175. My experience with many web stores are that they display the manufacturers suggested retail price as just about anything they like to make their 'sale' price look like a real bargain.
