Rating: - Great, but the basket is a bit high
I see two five-star reviews and one three-star review complaining about the amount of water needed to submerge part of the basket. I agree with all of this.You really do need most of a gallon of water before the pasta gets wet. This really does take a long time to heat up. That said, the pot is sturdy riveted stainless steel with an aluminum-cored base.
I may get a brick to throw in the pot under the basket to help cook pasta faster.

I got this pot for christmas and have used it to make numerous soups and even used it to boil crab legs. Works great for making anything in large quantities.

- Impressive, But You Better Be Making a Lot of Pasta
This is a very nice pasta pot, with a pull-out basket.The only knock is that the basket doesn't extend all that far down into the (very large) pot; thus, if you're making a relatively smaller amount of pasta, you still need to boil a very large amount of water in order to have a high enough level to cover the basket.
