Amazon.com Product Description:
There's no rule that stereo systems have to be big and bulky, as this trendy microsystem from Philips aptly proves. The wall-mountable MC235 is a mere 3.78 inches thick--bigger than a credit card but far smaller than the average CD player and speaker combo. Yet the system still packs dynamic audio performance inside its narrow body, with such features as digital sound control and digital dynamic bass boost (DDBB). The former invites the user to choose between different sound settings, including optimal, jazz, rock, techno, and classic, and then automatically adjusts the sound balance and frequencies to create the most favorable setup for the chosen music style. DDBB, on the other hand, enhances the bass at low, mid, and high volumes to deliver rich, deep sounds, an important consideration for a small system such as this.

A closer look at the microsystem reveals that the CD spins vertically to save space. The thin profile also includes a digital AM/FM tuner and two detachable 5-watt speakers that can mount individually or stay attached to the entire unit. The CD player, which is compatible with CD-RW discs in addition to traditional audio CDs, offers all the normal CD functions, such as search, repeat, shuffle, and programming. Additional features include both sleep and wakeup timers and an Eco mode that conserves power when the unit is in standby.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Worthless piece of garbage
Bought to play CDs. One year later won't play CDs. Don't be fooled by the nice look of it. I won't buy a Philips product again.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Throw your money away
I was drawn to the sleek design and thought the price wasn't bad either.I bought it for my office where it doesn't get much use (until after business hours).I am constantly fighting with static and station reception and have had to hang the antenna wires all over everything for a clear signal. Now, at about 8 months, the CD player has completely stopped working. This unit no longer reads, recognizes or plays any CD's not matter what I do.So, now I own a nice looking, static playing radio that ... Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - exactly what I wanted except for volume settings
This is a great stereo for a great price- I am very pleased with it and I found that most of the reviews here were very useful and accurate.

One thing that I was not expecting but that you should be aware of before purchasing is that the volume changes in preset intervals and there is a big gap between the lowest audible setting and mute - so that if you enjoy listening to music/radio very softly, such as when you fall asleep, you may wish to consider a different system or set it up in ... Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Bad radio reception and staticky noise from CD's
I got this unit from Walmart yesterday for around $70.It looks decent, but its sound quality, both from radio and CD, is so inferior and I don't think it's worth the money. Also the remote buttons are really hard to push down.I'm returning it tomorrow.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Poor Sound Quality
I received this stereo as a gift a few years ago.We rarely use it because:
-The remote stopped working after a month
-Radio reception is poor
-CD's skip constantly or there is the "No Disk" error
-Volume #2 is way too loud for quiet meals or falling asleep to ( we've moved with it may times) and volume #1 sounds like it is no longer playing in stereo.
