Amazon.com Product Description:
Offering a tantalizing blend of convenience and quality, Sony's amazingly affordable 5-disc Super Audio CD (SACD)/CD changer makes music listening exciting again. Now you can spin hours of consecutive music and enjoy premium-quality sound all from the same carousel player.
Depending on the disc, SACD music releases provide super high-fidelity multichannel and/or stereo sound--far greater in resolution than standard audio CDs. The system employ's Sony's proprietary DSD (Direct Stream Digital) digital-to-analog conversion. A 1-bit system operating at an extremely high sampling frequency of 2.8224 MHz (64 times that of standard CD), DSD production begins by converting analog audio (i.e., the original sound signal) to digital without filtering or other techniques that might compromise the integrity of the source. DSD allows for a frequency response that can extend to 100,000 Hz and a dynamic range greater than 120 dB.
Multichannel releases offers special, discrete sound mixes created to take advantage of a home theater's front left/right, rear left/right, center channel, and subwoofer configuration, the better to envelop you in your favorite music as you've never heard it before. Most reissued multichannel discs also offer superior-sounding 2-channel (stereo) versions of the albums as you know them.
The SCD-CE595 performs its own decoding of SACD signals, passing high-resolution analog, not digital, audio to your integrated amplifier or surround receiver. This means you'll need an audio/video receiver with multichannel analog-audio inputs to appreciate multichannel SACD releases. Built-in SACD multichannel speaker management helps you tailor the individual outputs to your system.
Choose from a set of stereo and a set of multichannel analog-audio outputs, and--for use with standard CDs--there's also an optical digital-audio output that simplifies hookup with CD and/or minidisc recorders and other audio gear.
What's in the Box
CD/SACD changer, remote control, remote batteries, a user's manual, and warranty/registration information.

- Sony 5-disc CD player a good buy
I wanted a good CD player at a reasonable price to replace a 20-year old Kenwood, and the Sony CE595 was a good pick. I have an old stereo system, but the Sony plugged in with no problem. Although this CD player has audio features I can't use now, I will be able to take advantage of those features when I upgrade my system. CD changing is relatively quiet, and there have been no problems in the month that I've had it. I'd recommend this CD player.

- Received defective, non-working CD player.
The CD player was received in good condition. I hooked it up and then spent an hour reading instructions to try to make it work. I then spent an hour on the phone with Sony service who (finally) determined the product was defective (I knew that). Then, they gave me an address to send the product to for repair or replacement. I'll likely not consider another purchase from Sony.

- Handy for parties or dinner music
If you have CDs, a changer is very handy. Who wants to put in a new disc every 20 minutes? This device comes with a palm-sized remote that lets you choose which CD to play first, or to skip or you can skip past a particular cut.The remote is important if you position the changer low in the rack - it is hard to see the controls on the player itself unless it is at eye-level. The player is easy to load so long as the drawer opens below chin-level. To get the most out of this changer, you will need ... Read More

- Nothing beats it for the money
I purchased two of these players - both through Sony as refurbished units. I got them at ridiculously low prices. In reading reviews it seems that you either love this machine or hate it based upon it's reliability. Some people got caught with defective units.I suspect that's why there are so many refurbished ones on the market from Sony.
In a nutshell I really like this player. With SACD's it has incredible sound, especially in multi-channel mode. This is how SACD was really meant ... Read More
