Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great addition to my KitchenAid stand mixer
Have had this ice cream maker four weeks and have made five different flavors. It works very well.Easy to use, easy to clean. The best flavor was the chocolate from the "Cook's Illustrated* website. A word of caution though, I found it best to limit the batch to no more than a four cup (one quart) combined milk/cream base (plus eggs, sugar, etc).Otherwise it doesn't freeze quickly enough to prevent icy ice cream. With that caveat, it makes the smoothest, creamiest ice cream imaginable.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Yes, it does work very well!
This attachment works well, and is incredibly easy to use.Simple.I've never made ice cream before in my life, and as I followed an enclosed recipe through the mixing, pre freezing, stirring, etc... I couldn't tell if I was doing it right or not, but in hindsight -- there really is no way to screw this one up.It is that easy. The amount of ice cream you can make is small -- a good thing. This means that you can experiment and make all kinds of different flavors -- tweak the basic recipe with ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Does a Good Job
I read all the reviews and this ice cream maker attachment scores high. Up until now, I've used an outdoor electric salt & ice bucket ice cream maker and it was always a bit of a hassle. I'm still keeping it though, because it makes large quantities of high quality ice cream. But I really love my Kitchenaid Attachment because:

1. I didn't want another appliance, when I have a perfectly good Artisan mixer.
2. The bowl stays in the freezer and is ready to go at a moment's notice.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Much better options out there
I'm an engineer and can fix just about anything. I know machines. While I love my Kitchen Aid mixer this ice cream attachment is a rather poor implementation. The method KA uses to attach the mixer is just a poor design. The attachment bracket is pressure fit to the head of the mixer that relies on little friction pads to keep it in place. The set up works if you're willing to putz with it continuously, but I found it's just WAY too much hassle. It will work if you're making ice cream and don't let ...
