Product Description:
Ginsu 04814 International Traditions 14-Piece Bakelite Knife Block Set stocks a kitchen with most cutlery needs, and packs all knives in a contemporary black hardwood storage block. The set includes: an 8-inch chef's knife, an 8-inch slicer, an 8-inch bread knife, a 5-inch boning knife, a 4-1/2-inch utility knife, a 3-1/2-inch paring knife, and six 4-1/2-inch steak knives, plus a pair of shears.
Amazon.com Review:
Many associate Ginsu knives with the product's kitschy infomercial from the `70s that begins with a karate kick to a watermelon and proceeds with a demo of these knives cutting through just about anything in the house. Like the original product, Ginsu's International Traditions is designed for the home cook who is not attuned to the maintenance required of a more high-end knife. However, this line is an improvement on the original, offering the weight, balance, and style of a commercial-quality knife, while meeting current design trends and performance expectations.

Ginsu blades are constructed from stainless steel and feature a two-dimensional serrated edge that is symmetrically cut on either side for more accurate slicing and for either right- or left-handed use. Edges are still as low-maintenance as ever and never require sharpening. The blades have full tangs that extend through lightweight bakelite handles and are triple-riveted for strength. Ginsu covers these International Traditions knives under a limited, lifetime warranty and recommends manual cleaning with hot, soapy water to keep them in top shape. --Cristina Vaamonde

- Ginsu Knife block set - quality product
I purchased this knife set to replace another set we had for 11+ years.I have to say I was impressed with quality of knifes and variety. The block they come in is great and makes for easy access. We haven't used all the knifes as of yet but those we have have worked great - very sharp. I purchased this set because of Ginsu name and quality and I'd recommend to anyone looking for a great knife set for the kitchen without breaking the bank.

- They became dull after two years
They were good for a while, but eventually dulled out just like every other set of knives that I have bought. They are worth the price, but they don't last forever.

- Good Deal
Since I do not have that big of a budget these knives ended up being perfect. They are extremely sharp, however, the one thing I do not like about them is you can not put them in the dishwasher.I put one of the knives through the wash once and it looked like it started to rust a little. In any case, I just wash them by hand now and they are great.

- Nice
I've had this knife set for over two yrs. now, and they are wonderful! They are still very sharp, and no rust.I'm even thinking about buying another set for my mother!
Rating:
- worth the price
Just moved into a new apartment, and wasn't looking to spend much money.I can't comment on how well the knives have held up, since we only just bought them a few weeks ago. However, they appear to be of good quality and definitely worth the price. If I have to replace them next year, they'll still have done their job.
