While not professional grade, this wok will handle most casual stir-frying ventures at home. Instead of a nonstick finish, the wok comes with a clear lacquer coating that must be removed before first use. Instructions for the lacquer removal (basically heating the wok and wiping off the coating with oil) are included. The wok's flattened bottom sits securely on any type of stovetop, whether gas, electric, ceramic, or induction. Because there is no nonstick finish, the wok is safe for use with metal utensils, including the 12-inch stainless-steel spatula that comes with the set. Also included is a wire tempura rack that hooks over the edge of the wok, designed for draining deep-fried vegetables and shrimp.
Serious chefs may want to know that the hollow stainless-steel handle, as well as the stainless-steel helper handle, are riveted to the wok, which means two rounded bolts on each protrude into the top of the wok's interior. The 7-1/2-inch long handle features a hole for hanging and a thumb indentation for a good grip. To prevent rusting and to ensure a good stick-prevention patina builds up on the interior, the wok should be washed and dried by hand, not in a dishwasher. The wok measures 14 by 3-3/4 inches. This is a good wok but the included utensils get hot so you need an oven mitt.Also it takes up alot of roomif you have other pots to cook nearby.But a good buy nonetheless.
