Bamboo, a grass, grows quickly to harvestable size and is considered an environmentally-sound replacement for slow-growing trees. This was also a gift for my nephew for his first apartment. Very practical item, he thought the utensils were too nice to use!

Beats the standard wooden variety of cooling utensils by a mile! Great product, doesn't seem to stain, shape is fantastic, and holder is very attractive sitting by the range top.

I purchased this set in August, 2009 and absolutely loved it. It looked great on my kitchen counter until this morning (six months from purchase date) when I walked to the kitchen in the morning and found the holder split opened from the bottom all the way up to the top.The utensils have held up well, though; therefore, I give this product some credit, but I am disappointed that the holder didn't last for too long.
