- Plastic & Crock defective
I used this crock once a week for just a few months. The plastic handle on the lid broke off irreparably. Then the plastic handles broke off the sides. The crock insert appeared to have hairline cracks shortly after this.I didn't think to much of it since I think it is somewhat common for crocks to get little cracks. But I very soon realized that the cracks on the inside mached those on the outside! They weren't surface cracks but went all the way through.I called the maunfacturer to get ... Read More

- Runs Hot, No Replacement Parts
As others have said, the pot runs very hot.Unfortunately, the ceramic stoneware cracked and Rival does not offer it as a replacement part.I'm going to purchase a different brand for a replacement.

- too hot, no replacement parts available
I loved my old hand-me-down crockpot. When it no longer worked I spent quite a lot of time at the store debating about what kind to get.I settled on this one, figuring that the Rival name meant something.

- Too hot.Fragile parts.No customer service
We have a 35 year-old slow cooker that's great except the heat control knob is broken and it's not as big as this Rival. So we bought this budget item from Rival to get something larger.
The first one we brought home smoked up the kitchen when we turned it on.Alarmed, we returned it.The second one smoked when first turned on, as well. But it didn't smoke much, so we gave it a try.
Even on the low setting, it boils the food. It's WAY too hot for a slow cooker. Not ... Read More

- What I had expected
This made the fifth and final slow cooked I purchased. It should have been the first one.The other slow cookers I purchased were either too big (7 quart) or too small (2 quart). This six quart is just the right size. The 7 quarts never did seen to heat up like they should and other reviews that I read here did say just that.I should have payed better attention to other peoples reviews instead of trying other cheaper brands first. They all said to stick with a Rival. So don't make the mistake ...
