- Good Idea - Too Many Flaws!
I am reviewing this Krups FMF5 thermal coffee maker after having had two of them in quick succession. The first one leaked a lot of water during the brewing and left a big puddle on the counter. We exchanged it for an identical machine, which worked fine for 3 days, then the "Empty Reservoir" icon started blinking (and beeping!), would not allow the machine to brew coffee, and would not reset no matter what we tried (pressing the On/Off button as described in the manual, unplugging the machine, ... - Do not buy this Coffee Maker
I got this coffee as a gift two years from my new son in law.Except for that relationship, it would have been in the trash after a month. It leaks water everywhere. Finally, a plastic tube above the filter warped causing more leakage and the Krups company does not supply a replacement.Miserable coffee maker and an inept company.

- Good machine - negative reviews are unjust
I bought this coffee pot with money we got from our wedding over 8 months ago.The disadvantages/problems are minor in general and in my opinion do not warrant the amount of negative criticism this machine has received.Let me preface this review by saying that I do consider myself to be a coffee snob - I buy my own beans and grind them fresh for every brew.Good coffee is very important to me, especially in the morning. To address some of the more common complaints this machine has (unjustly) ... - A triumph of design over function? Great to look at
...but not if you want to make coffee. Really the usual 'Made in China' crap that much cheaper coffee machines offer. If it breaks - forget them bending over backwards to help you; it's quite the reverse, actually. You have to bend over backwards for them. The worst customer service, over-priced, poor-quality. The serial number is on the bottom of the machine - you'll need to make a note of it and have it handy when you send it back.

- Finally a mid-range coffee maker that works
I had a nightmare trying to replace my basic $20 4 cup drip coffee maker, going through a Mr. Coffee Maker that did not work, and not really finding anything for under $100 that met my finance's stringent aesthetic requirements. Everything I looked at had bad reviews and horror stories. So far, both of us are very pleased with the FMF5
The ready beep is audible from rooms away, it is easy to program, and most importantly, it makes decent coffee. I prefer the morning ritual of smelling ... Read More
