- burning smell!
I just bought this blender and found that it hasa strong burning electrical smell. I am afraid it will start a fire so I am returning it to KitchenAid. Of less importance but still annoying is that it sounds like a Boeing 747 when you turn it on. There have to be better blenders out there. Choose one of those!

I bought this blender after burning out the motor on the previous one making smoothies.We tend to make a smoothy just about every night and with the previous blender the ice was always chunky and not very smooth.This blender works very well to not only break up the ice but to whip it into "snow" in seconds.I have used a vita mix blender side by side and the results are identical at a fraction of the cost.I would highly recommend this blender for anyone looking for a high power blender at ... I use a blender daily for fruit smoothies, and this one is far superior to any previous one I've owned.Blender is thoughtfully designed, sturdily built and a pleasure to use.I originally wanted a glass pitcher, but went with this polycarbonate pitcher and am very pleased.You get what you pay for:

I've had the blender for about a month.Very powerful, does a good job creating a vortex for complete blending.I'm concerned about the durability, because the gear-shaped coupling between the jar and the base does not seem to make a solid connection.Seems to be one gear shaped plastic piece fitting into a gear shaped plastic socket.Googling reveals this is indeed a problem with the blender.Of course, I wouldn't have known to check for this before I bought it.
