- An effective but somewhat pricey toaster
After years of frustration and expensive repairs to my Dualit ("used in Queen Elizabeth's royal household"), I decided I needed a more practical toaster.The KitchenAid 4 slice toaster WORKS.It toasts to exactly the right shade of brown and promptly pops up.The bagel/english muffin feature works like a charm, toasting the inside and lightly browning the outside.This model is somewhat more expensive than most competitors, but it is sturdy and I expect many years of use.The appearance is very ... I've had this toaster for about two months now and it is very good.I read the reviews on it prior to my purchase and about the only thing that concerned me from those reviews is that people said that it was a little slow to toast the bread.I find this to be true, but I believe that it was an engineering tradeoff to allow the bread to be toasted evenly.I find that every piece of bread that I toast comes out exactly the same and consistently even across the entire face of the bread.The slightly ... The toaster is bigger than I thought, but it's a nice looking machine.It's well made, and toasts evenly.The crumb tray is very well designed and simple to empty without making a mess.The bagel setting does a good job, but it does seem to take a long time for the toasting to complete.Otherwise, so far, so good.

Bot this based on reputation of the brand.It toasted unevenly and took an unusually long time to toast anything.This morning it refused to latch when lowering the toast on either side.I cleaned it out, but that made no difference.I took off the cover to see if I could fix the latch mechanism and was stunned at all of the electronics.I looks like the magnetic release (which I have no idea how to repair) is malfunctioning.This unit is now in the garage with all the other trash.I have to admit, ... We switched from a toaster oven because we wanted better toast.This KitchenAid makes perfect toast and bagels every time.We love it.Color is consistent between batches, so the toast never comes out burnt or under-done.
