- Good to have gadget
I didn't realize that my Garmin came with a car charger, so I purchased a separate one.The description said a home charger not car.However, I am glad I have it because we can leave one in each car now. There is a bit of convenience for us. Also, they are mini-USB so a cell phone charger will work as well and vice-verse. Again, a convenience.

I've had this for a year and I've never had a problem. I am replacing though, as my 4 yr old unscrewed the tip and parts fell out at the dealership...and I didn't know. Oh well...

The power adapter that came with the nuvi seemed to be cheaply made. For example, it had plastic tabs to grab the inside of the power supply socket. THIS power cable actually has metal tabs that does the job much better. Also, the LED light on the new cable is more subdued whereas the LED on the supplied cable was much brighter, ... Read More

The product was received in fine condition but I returned it because it wasn't needed after all.

This unit works well enough and allows you to use power from your car rather than rely on AA batteries in the GPS.But, the end of the plug with the tip can and does unscrew itself unexpectedly.The next time you go to use the GPS, the power adapter does not work because part of it is missing.So far, this seems to happen to my wife when she is out of town alone.Eventually she has found the missing pieces in the car, but the day is coming when the missing pieces will be in the rental car she ...
