Product Description:
ThisDecanter/Bottle Cleaner from Riedel makes cleaning decanters and thermos flasks easier than ever. The secret is the stainless steel pellets that work to remove all dirt, residue, sediment and stains. Simply fill the vessel half way up with water, add the pellets, and swish it around for about two minutes. When you're done, simply strain, rinse and dry the pellets and they are good to use again and again.

Amazon.com Review:
Sometimes the simplest ideas are the most innovative, and Riedel's bottle cleaner beads are a case in point. These small, smooth stainless steel balls submerge in water where they sink to the bottle's hard-to-reach corners and bottom. When the bottle is gently agitated, the balls create fiction against the hard surfaces, knocking off unwanted residue and providing an even, streak-free cleaning. No more risking cutting hands or accidental breaks! These beads work perfectly in narrow-necked bottles, vases, or any irregularly shaped glass piece. When not in use, they store in a handsome and convenient black plastic jar with a screw-off lid and the words "Bottle Cleaner" in crisp, white lettering. This handy item makes a great add-on gift with glassware and decanters. --Kara Karll

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Cheaper Idea
The same task can very well be accomplished with rice.Yes, rice.Cheap, disposable, and you will never care if you lose the grains in the process.Plus, you will not have to drain, rinse and store the beads =)
Old trick.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Works well with vinegar
Got this to clean a REALLY old crystal wine decanter. At first they did not work.I added some white vinegar to the water and the beads and it did a really nice job getting all of the old gunk off the bottom of the decanter. Will probably work better when you use them from the start.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - SIMPLE, WORKED GREAT FOR ME
Saw this and thought, what the heck, I have an antique silver and crystal decanter that has been in the family for 100 years. My parents gave it to hubby and I for a wedding gift, but it was would never come clean on the bottom. So this came today, and I immediately unearthed said decanter to give it at "whirl" (hah) and it worked like a charm.

In 5 minutes the piece looks better than it has in 15 years and after unearthing the silver polish, looks fantastic. Now commands a place ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Bummed on the size
I bought this as a main present for my uncle.I was disappointed that it was about the size of a silver dollar. So it looked more like a stocking stuffer. You can probably save some money by going to home depot and getting a bunch of ball barrings.Don't know how it works though cause it wasn't for me

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Or you could try
If you can fit marbles into the opening of the decanter they will work also.Concerned about the cleaniless of the marbles? Boil them in water, makes a racket but sterlizes them. You can also at times clean the inside of a bottle with salt (rock salt is better harder and larger) or chips of ice, or get some small pebbles the size of a pea and use them. The ice chips will melt when you shake them around, so you might have to do 2, 3, or 4 rounds of using them but they will clean off the inside ...
