I have had this product for ~3 years. It has done quite a good job in this time, evenly heating and being reliable. The only thing i don't like about this product is that it has relatively short slats. While they are wide enough for bagels, they are too short for even slightly long pieces of bread. Although I do enjoy the ability to hit the bread push button hard and the toast ends up on my plate.

What a dud! I like the design because it makes it easier to handle since it sits under my upper cabinets.It looks nice too; however, it doesn't work. The breead/toast won't stay down. I have to hold it down to toast and I have better things to do with my time. The temperature settings aren't consistent. One time a setting of 2 won't brown the bread, the next time it burns it. JUNK!!
Rating: - After 1 year, it's still the toast of the kitchen.
We've given this two-slice toaster a pretty good workout in the past year. No problems whatsoever up to this point.
Let's go over the features quickly:
There are two option buttons between the two handles: "Reheat" and "Bagel".
The "reheat" does a good job without re-cooking your toast, by running about half of the heating elements on both sides of the slots, and the "bagel" button turns on 100% of just the inside (center) elements of the slots, which is handy for other ... Read More

- Short Slots/Long Toast
The Avante looks good and toasts well generally. Two problems: (1) We use one of Pepperidege Farms high fiber breads. They are about an inch longer than most commercial breads; therefore, the extra inch doesn't get toasted. Also, the bread won't fit in sideways. I even tried cutting the toasting time in half, pulling out and reversing the toast, then toasting for the last half of the time. No good. The toast burned in the center. (2) I can't seem to find the right temperature for English muffins to toast ... Read More

I just wanted a toaster that gave me "almost perfect" toast. I like it evenly toasted on both sides ... I use a variety of breads ... but not thin slices. This doesn't toast any more even on both sides that my very cheap toaster!!!
I love all the features ... but I wanted more for the higher price.
