- IT WORKS WELL FOR WHAT I NEEDED IT FOR
I NEEDED A SHARPENER THAT WOULD SHARPEN A VERY HIGH-QUALITY KERSHAW FOLDING KNIFE THAT I POSSESS AT THE CORRECT ANGLE (20 DEGREES OR SO).I FOUND IT TO NOT BE POSSIBLE TO OBTAIN SUCH AN ITEM IN MY LOCALITY BUT THIS FURI SHARPENER, ALTHOUGH A VERY ODD DESIGN, DOES THE JOB THAT I NEEDED IT TO DO QUITE WELL.

Over the years, my father and I have spent literally thousands of dollars on sharpening equipment over the years. This is by far the easiest to use. My brother bought one for himself, gave one as a gift to my dad, and I bought one after seeing and using it. I recommend this to anyone who understands the necessity of having a sharp implement to work with.

This knife sharpener is a staple in our kitchen. A dull knife is a dangerous knife, and this tool is easy and (when used according to the directions - which are embossed and printed on the tool casing) safe to use.
There IS a finite amount of metal that is removed with each sharpening, but all in all, this is an effective tool and an excellent gift for the chef in your life.

May be that my definition of "sharp" is different from other reviewers who give this thing high praise. It puts a good edge on my knives, but nowhere near as sharp as I get from the little ACCU=EDGE that costs less than half as much.The instructions are not really clear as to how to use it correctly, for example; how much pressure to apply, how quickly to draw the blad through the fingers, what angle to hold the knife at, or even whether to pull or push it through.If you have knives that are ... I was a little concerned about the performance of a $20 sharpener but I have been very satisfied. It works just as well as it was advertised. Very happy with it.
