- A very dependable shaver, though not much different from earlier Braun shavers
The Braun Syncro System shavers debuted in the US around the spring of 2000 with the 7000 series. They made quite a splash, looking quite different from the predecessor, the Braun Flex Integral (6000 series).I bought the 7526 model and used it for about 4 years before moving up to the 8000 Activator series.The model I actually have is the 8595.The 8995 is essentially the same model, only renamed with a different model convention (now 5 series instead of Activator system 8000 series).

- Look Elsewhere--Or Else
I bought this item less than six months ago, i.e. it's still under warranty. Last week the cleaning stand stopped working. After finally reaching Braun "Customer Service" today, I was informed that
1) I would have to send it to a service center in another state
2) It would take "at least" 2-3 weeks.
3) A temporary cheap replacement would take 2-3 weeks to arrive
4) I have to pay shipping to the repair location and make a long-distance call to them ahead of time to tell them ... Read More

My most favorite shaver. Liked it so much I bought one for my boss as a group birthday gift.
Rating: - Works good on face, not neck
As my first electric razor, I'm sort of satisfied with its performance. IT does not give that close shave as you get from the traditional razor (Gillette Fusion or Schick Quattro). But I guess, it is ok for everyday purpose when you don't need that close shave. Certainly, it is very convenient & quick to use. I do get the smoothness on my face, but it is not that good on neck. I have to use it multiple times and move around in different directions after stretching the neck to make it work somehow. ... Read More

This is my second submission. Amazon did not publish my previous one. First problem, you MUST shave BEFORE you wash/shower your face! Does that mean I must change my way of life? Second, the flexing head proved much of a problem since is slipped and jumped over my skin. In the "fixed" mode the shave was never as close as my Norelco 8138XL about a third of the price. I needed to go over and over the facial area, pressing lightly and then firmly trying to cut the hairs but the result was unsatisfactory. ... Read More
