- Why not vinegar?
White vinegar dissolves all the lime, scale, etc. It's cheap, easy, just a little stinky and takes a little longer.
No, I've never tried this cleaner, but this is how we've been cleaning our Zojirushi electric pots for the past 20 years.
1)Heat up the vinegar to ~150f or so (in the dispensing pot or separately) then pour in.I use a 4 cup pyrex cup in the microwave.

I received an old 2.2L pot from a friend which had never been cleaned. It looked pretty disgusting... layers and layers of stuff at the bottom. I tried lemon juice but it didn't really work. 2 packs of this though and it looks almost as good as new.

This product is amazing!!I've had my Zorjirushi hot water dispenser for over 5 years and had never used the cleaner on it (embarassing to admit).I would just keep wiping the crust out.Finally I decided I should look for the cleaner. TG for Amazon, it was so easy to find (OK, how stupid that I hadn't checked sooner).I used 4 packets in my 4 liter unit.The directions are so simple to follow.WOW!!!!!!!!!!!I had forgotten what the inside had looked like originally, it had been blackened for ... i absolutely LOVE my Zojirushi air pot. i've had it for 5 years now. i had noticed that it wasn't pumping as well as it used to (4 or 5 vs. 1 or 2)and that the buildup on the inside wasn't exactly easy to scrub off. but this pot cleaner works SO WELL. just make a pot of water and hit the cleaning button and it does the rest! So easy and it makes my pot dispense like new!
