I BOUGHT THREE OF THESE UMBRELLA STANDS AND THREE MARKET UMBRELLAS.I THOUGHT THE MARKET UMBRELLAS WOULD STAND UP STRAIGHT IN THESE STANDS FILLED WITH SAND OR WATER.THEY DON'T.I FILLED THE FIRST ONE WITH WATER, PRETTY HEAVY, PUT THE UMBRELLA IN IT, TIGHTENED THE CAP, UMBRELLA IMMEDIATELY FELL OVER.I DECIDED THE STAND WASN'T HEAVY ENOUGH AND THE CENTER STEM WASN'T HIGH ENOUGH TO KEEP THE UMBRELLA FROM TIPPING.SO I MIXED SOME OF OUR GORGEOUS FLORIDA SANDY CLAY MUD WITH WATER TO MAKE A SLURRY ... I bought this base to do two things for me - it had to be able to fit under my picnic table and it had to hold the umbrella snug enough to keep it from spinning every time a light breeze came by.My picnic table has a support beam that only allows for a base that's 7 1/2" in height to fit under it to align with the umbrella pole holes.The height for this base is listed as 5 1/2" on Amazon.However, the full base height is actually 8" - the large diameter part is 5 1/2" tall, but the collar that ... Looks good, but does not mention in the listing that this is NOT a weighted base. (just plastic) and you have to add water OR ? to give it some weight.
