Amazon.com Review:
This single audiocassette version of yet another bestsellerabout caring for the soul is the Zeitgeist in a nutshell. The author'ssoftly spoken message, aimed at people who feel that their lives havebecome overwhelmed by trivial demands and the shadow of stress, is aseries of practical, homely tips on how to regain both perspective andcontrol. The key is to remember--or rather, to learn to bear inmind--some simple truths that we already know. As Carlson observes,"when you die, your in-box won't be empty," so you should stress lessabout emptying it now. And a century from now we'll all be dead andgone--so things that seem blisteringly urgent now are really trivial, and will soon be forgotten. Carlson is particularly good on theimportance of controlling self-pity, especially the sense that we arethe ones doing all the hard work, which can be so damaging to ourrelationships with others.

Two kinds of people might bedisappointed by this tape. Those who have already thought deeply aboutthese issues are likely to be underwhelmed by advice such as "changewhat can be changed, and learn to accept what can't be changed." Andthose who expect a single cassette to transform their lives will find, not surprisingly, that Carlson is much better at saying what we shoulddo than at explaining how we can do it. But he reads well, and forovertaxed people who don't expect a miracle cure, the message on thistape could be a small first step to a saner life. (Running time: 90minutes, one cassette) --Richard Farr

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Don't sweat the small stuff
This book replaced my original that I lost in the flood waters of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 in New Orleans. Great book then, and now!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - gOOD ADVICE
tHIS BOOK WAS VERY EASY TO READ AND UNDERSTAND. iT HAS A GREAT DEAL OF PRACTICAL ADVICE.i WOULD RECCOMEND THIS BOOK TO MY FREINDS AND ENEMIES

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - disapointment

I had moderately high hopes for this book. Turned out to be a really dulled-down self helper. Wouldn't bother with it. Repeats himself constantly and the reasons he gives for doing the things he suggests are new-age...like you'll feel better about yourself, which is fine. But there should be deeper reasons for doing things.
Bottom line, shallow and obvious...also I read it in about 2 hours.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - No longer sweating the small stuff!
This little book has had such an impact on my life. Whenever I feel myself losing perspective, I refer back to it and regain my focus. It's just a wonderful book and I'm glad I read it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It's a lifesaver
First of all I was so sorry to hear that Richard Carlson passed away a year and a half ago.

This book was recommended to me by my therapist. It gave me amazing positive insight on stresses, life's pressures and how to deal with everyday "small stuff." It's the kind of book that you can read at leisure since each chapter is a few pages. Keep it at the bedside- this book will change your attitude, job pressure and general frustration. Sympathy to the Carlson family.
