The high capacity dehumidifier has been designed to absorb moisture from small enclosed areas. It will help protect clothes and valuables from the damaging effects of mold / mildew and moisture rot. It is 100% renewable and needs no power to operate. Just hang the eva-dry unit in a closet, or you can place it in other small enclosed spaces, and it will start absorbing moisture immediately. There are no batteries required or cords to plug in, the unit works without power.

There is an indicator window with special "moisture meter crystals" that change from blue (when dry) to pink (when wet) to indicate when the unit needs to be "renewed". The unit will absorb approximately 8-10 ounces of moisture (depending on humidity levels this should take approximately 4-8 weeks). Once the moisture has been adsorbed it cannot leak or spill. This unit uses a specialized engineered crystallized silica gel that is odorless, non-toxic and completely safe. When the indicator crystals turn pink it is time to "re-new" the unit. Simply remove the unit from where it is absorbing moisture and plug it into a power outlet in a well ventilated area (bathroom with extraction fan, garage, outside, etc.) There is a built in heater that will warm the crystals allowing them to expand and release the moisture as water vapor into the outside air. It takes about 12-14 hours to completely re-new the unit. When it is completely renewed the indicator crystals will change back to blue. The unit is brand new again and ready to absorb another 8-10 ounces of moisture. The crystals will remain active for 10 years and we offer a 5 year limited manufactures warranty on all EDV-500 units.

This is a very nice unit.It is working very well as I write this.The recharge periods are as promised.The unit is a bit large, but it is not too large.I use it in my gun safe and it fits with no issues on a shelf.I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good thing is, it works as described, but either my physics/math are wrong, or there is hidden magic.
I had the unit out for 8 weeks, the stuff got extremely purple... so its soaked and full. Put it on a scale, about 950 grams, 24hrs later, 820 grams, that's 130 ml = 4.39582295 US fluid ounces. I'm pretty sure even if I would let it sit for a couple more weeks to soak, or dry even longer it would ever reach 8-10, dont even see the room where it could go.

I had written a review for EDV-300 which I thought was for EDV-500.Anyway, I bought both and both work as expected!I used them both for my bathroom that's about 9 square feet.The mildew is visibly less and takes a longer time to build up.The mini one changed color after about a week of use and the EDV-500 started to change color now that it's about 1 month since I first started using it.One thing that I notice is that for the EDV-300 it changes color faster once you have charged it.It ... I got this for a smallish 8-gun storage cabinet (really a kind of metal locker) I live in the woods here in Va. and we have a persistent dampness problem. This dehumidifier has been in service for a month and the indicator does not even show a hint of pink yet. Granted, it's been wintertime and the heat has been on, but there is a bathroom with daily showering only twenty feet away and our kitchen is directly downstairs from this room so there is moisture in the air for sure. These units (I bought two and switch them when necessary) have kept our coat closet nice and dry.We had a problem with everything in there mildewing during the early spring when our old house's cellar gets wet and makes the first floor damp as well, and these have solved it. Very pleased.
