Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good product
We purchased this gate for the bottom of our stairs with banisters on both sides. It works great and protects (& is strong enough against) our 2 1/2 year old twins, and 11 month old as well.It is noisy when it retracts, but is quiet if you keep the button depressed as it retracts. Many previous posters pointed this out as a flaw, but the company made it that way as a safety (notification) feature - and you are able to get around the noise easily. My only complaint is that it is not one handed. ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best baby gate out there!
We love our Kiddy Guard gates, and recommend them to everyone. They work perfectly in that they keep kids of all sizes where you want them, and no one can accidently fall down the stairs. They are a bit loud, sure, but no louder than, say, coughing...it's not a big deal. And yes, you can operate them one-handedly.Ours have been through 2 babies, and after a learning curve of a week or so, it's no problem.Even babysitters can manage it after a time or two. It's great to be able to easily remove ... Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Works well for Banisters
This was the only gate I could find that would fit on my spiral staircase that was metal.I had to buy the kit, but it fit on the stairs without drilling holes or hardware. It is a little difficult to operate at first, and nealy impossible to do it with one hand, but I guess that makes it more difficult for your child to operate.Would recommend it if you have to put a gate on stairs where there are banisters and no where to mount hardware.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great Gate for Odd Spaces!
Purchased this gate for the bottom of our steps.Couldn't mount a metal gate due to the design of the entryway.Only place it was possible to mount would have totally disrupted the flow of the downstairs. We use this gate so that it closes on an angle blocking a hot radiator and the stairs from the kiddo.

Mounting the gate side was easy.Mounting the latch side required an extra set of hands to hold the gate open as it wants to retract.

It is a bit difficult to get open. ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - This gate will drive you batty!
This gate is the worst- it cannot be opened and shut with one hand (as it claims) and the locking mechanisms is so difficult that it works about 50% of the time and that is after i had practiced!it brought my mother-in-law to tears while babysitting.stay away!
