- 500 Gig's that works great
The back up hard drive comes with pre-programed software so its just plug and play. For the new bee it may be a bit confuseing because it's set up for so many lang. but with a little nerve to take the first step it's easily mastered and understood.
Its drive letter or the one you assign, recalls information fast for a normal user 480 MB/sec.. For the hot rods it could need to be speeded up somewhat and because of its design it's not so easy to install a small SATA card with plug port. ... Read More

- Failed after only 3 weeks!
I actually loved this drive for the first two weeks. The best thing about it is that it plugs directly into the built-in drive bay on my HP media center PC. Unfortunately, the little, built-in fan on the back of the drive started making a strange, intermittent noise after only 2 weeks and I knew it was going to fail soon.Sure enough, the drive failed one week later.[...] Anyway, if the drive had lasted longer I would probably give it 4 or 5 stars.

- Hot Swap your Hard Drive Quickly and Easly.
Older computers sometimes require the purchase of additional hardware to hot swap your hard drive. HP fixes this situation. I dumped my Dell computer. What dell was; HP has met and exceeded the quality and innovation of computing. Buy this type of hard drive you won't be sorry.

- Great, But!
The HP HD5000S 500GB Personal Media External HD that I received works just wonderfully. My only complaint is that it does not come with a complete user or user friendly manual and even the on line one does not explain to less experienced users how to go about transferring music, photos etc. from the C or D drives to the HP Drive "Z".This may be a piece of cake for some, but for others?????? Finally figured it out, but there may be better ways of doing transfers??
