Father Goose is a classic comedy that just barely misses being essential. Cary Grant was a versatile actor, able to do drama & comedy equally. Father Goose was Grant's penultimate film. Grant is cast against his normal screen personna; normally, he's suave, debonair, sophisticated &, most of all, clean. In this film he's anything but those.

romantic comedies, like Father Goose. He could have had an endless stream of Hollywood's leading ladies co-starring with him. But he didn't want that & he only did one more movie before retiring. He felt his days as a leading man were gone. They weren't really but maybe it was vanity. He didn't want to grow old in front of the camera. Even so his good looks are still evident despite his slovenly, unshaved, unkempt character, Walter. He is a "filthy beast". He's an advanced plane spotter on a deserted ... Read More
