The New Breville Ikon Blender features the Hemisphere Bowl/Blade System that utilizes a large stainless steel chopping blade and a large shredding blade to hug the uniquely shaped hemisphere bowl. Because of this design, there are no still zones around the blades and ingredients are shredded into fine, consistent particles every time. The 54 ounce (1.6 liter) engineering grade Borosilicate glass jar is designed for clarity and to resist chipping and fogginess. The control pad features a back lit timer that functions as a count up timer during the 5 speed cycles and pulse function and counts down during the 2 programs for ice crushing and smoothies.Also displays measurements in both metric and empirical volumes. The Breville Assist Lid finger loop provides a sure grip for one finger removal. Rating: - Wonderful Blending but LEAKS
Whats Good: Wonderful blending. If you make soothies or frozen drinks this is a great blender. Put in your ingredients press the button and it takes care of the rest. If you use this regularly for this type of blending this is worth the cost.
Wha's Not: It leaks unless tightened well. Don't buy this if you don't have a strong grip, you will not get it tight enough. (They give you a tool to remove the assembly) This appears to be a design issue.

When I decided to purchase this blender, it was after much research. I had originally thought I wanted a juicer. After reading many reviews, it seemed that all to often the much sought after juicer ends up rarely used by many people after a few months. I decided to go with a blender for now, and if I really liked making smoothies (and Margaritas!)after a few months, I'd take the plunge and get a juicer as well. So, that being said, this is a great blender! I like the solid and weighty glass pitcher. ... Read More

- Nice looking but leaks
I really wanted to like this blender. It looks beautiful and unlike other blenders is actually suitable for displaying on the counter top. Unfortunately I also experienced the leakage problem on the very first use. After reading the reviews on here I took it back immediately.

Hello,
I washed the blender jar in the dishwasher.
Then took out some frozen berries, and fruits
for a smoothie.
Turned it on - and 'craaack'.
The jar's cracked all the way around.
There is no "replacement parts" available for
this blender on hte company website.
or on any google-able websites.
In any case, these things are supposed to be
"dishwasher safe".
Guess they are not..

I have been looking for something like this for a long time. I had no idea they made a blender this good. It can blend anything to perfection and the best part....you do not have to stand there and hold the top. You can leave the room and it will stop in one minute. It looks gorgeous on the kitchen counter and it actually works like magic. My husband and boys got this for Mothers Day and i will thank them everyday.
