Rating: - After 18 months the motor failed. Common occurence apparently.
loved my previous Canon Elph, a 110 bought around 2000 - it still functions just fine (albeit with 1 meg pictures). I bought this SD1000 camera under two years ago, and the lens motor is now non functional. I've taken about 2K pictures with it.

Canon wants to charge about 150 bucks to fix it now. A quick search shows at least one class action suite against Canon for a similar problem, and just as I was moaning to the customer service representative my co-worker mentioned he'd had 2 ... Read More

I've researched for 3 days just to choose which camera to buy and I decided to buy the sd1000.
A lot of people lately buy sd1100 because of its price and features. Sd1100 is indeed a great camera for its price but I really thought that the design of the camera was too feminine for me so I didn't choose it.

I have bought this camera in 2008 for 159$ from amazon ..and used from last 2yrs ..it was good enough for my regular outside trip pics and other regular pics .. works good and i have taken 2 to 3 hundred pics for a one time battery charge ..

Over one year it deteriorated.
It started out good.
Then some snaps came out blurred with the auto focus on.

Then all of them! I had to switch to the highest ISO setting.
Then the screen stopped working. No image. Nada.
