Product Description:
The camera's built-in sensor is a pyroelectric infrared sensor, which means it uses infrared rays to detect temperature differences within its range that are emitted naturally by people, animals, etc. The sensor can be used to trigger the camera to buffer (i.e., temporarily store) camera images in its memory. You can view these images later as desired. The sensor can also be used to trigger the camera to transfer images to someone or somewhere, by FTP, E-mail, or HTTP. Privacy mode allows you to protect your privacy by hiding the lens inside the camera, preventing camera images from being seen. If users are accessing the camera when privacy mode is turned on, the camera image area displayed in their web browsers turns gray. No camera pages can be accessed by users while privacy mode is turned on. Once privacy mode is turned off, users can press the refresh button in their web browsers to view images again.Built-in Microphone

- Crashes often, requires constant reboot
The product works well when it works, it's very neat to be able to control where the camera is pointing. But requires a reboot about every two days.
Even with the latest firmware, this device doesn't support https.Where are the other, no pan and tilt model BL-C101A supports https.

- get ready for a crash course in networks and routers
I bought one of these cameras through Amazon about a year ago, had some problems with my router and set the camera aside until I could get that sorted out.
One new Dlink DIR-655 router later, I came back to it. Finally set up and I can hit it from anywhere on the Internet. However...
Panasonic's advertising is misleading, IMO. To make this thing work the way you want, get ready to learn about:
WAN side vs LAN side addressing, DMZ's, static IP's, gateways, subnet ... Read More

- Good camera, decent price.
Extremely easy to use.I had this camera up and running on my network in a matter of minutes.I was impressed with the video and audio quality for a camera of this price range. The included recorder software with viewer is not the most intuitive, but once I figured it out, it was easy enough to use.If you want a good camera with motion detection recording for a decent price, I'd recommend this one!

- Help, I can't view my camera romotely
I have tried setting up this camera for a week now. When I'm at home on my laptop it works perfectly, and I can see and hear everything. When I tried to get the camera setup where I can access it remotely, I keep getting an error message saying that setup has failed, and that I need to enable UPnP settings.
I have internet and a wireless modem through Verizon Fios. I accessed my Fios modem and enabled UPnP settings, and reset the Panasonic camera. I still have not had any success setting ... Read More

- Great solution for security
We used this camera in the lobby of our synagogue. It is the perfect solution for us and very reasonable considering other quotes were $2,000 more than the cost of the camera. We did not have a readily available Ethernet port so we used the Netgear powerline over Ethernet. Both worked very well.
