Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - kind of wimpy
OK, the articles in The Atlantic are really good but it seems like a somewhat equivocal magazine, like the editors sit on both sides of all kinds of fences and try to maximize their readership by carefully picking articles that will not go too far in any particular direction. During the election season they had a nice photo of McCain on the cover and then a rather menacing photo of Obama--one of those few photos that make him look like an angry Malcolm X kind of figure--and then after he won they ... Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good Stuff
Look forward to reading this magazine every month if and only if they have an article or two especially by Jeffrey Goldberg, Robert D. Kaplan or Mark Bowden. Other than that I do not buy this magazine. The new issue that had Mark Bowden's review of US Air Force was magnificent. They should have more Christopher Hitchens material too. All in all, 4 stars for this magazine.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This is a great magazine!
I read the "New Yorker", "Forbes", and the "Atlantic".Overall, I think the "Atlantic" is the best.It covers a wide range of topics, and they are all very well written.I look forward to receiving the magazine every month. You won't get all the info from a newspaper, "Time" or "Newsweek" so I recommend you still pay attention to the news, but read this magazine and you will get new perspectives by reading this magazine.

I've been subscribing to The Atlantic for all but two of the last 16 years. And I look forward to it every single month. What I like best is that they print articles of any kind of topic-I know many people were disgusted with the Britney Spears article and cover, for example, but it was another instance of an article that was unexpected and fresh. The great thing is that, having done the "Britney cover," they will never do another cover like that again.

The Atlantic is worth the subscription ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Excellent Dentist Office Addition
I like the Atlantic, but I confess I do not like it enough so that I will continue to subscribe. I read it while awaiting treatment at my dentist's office, while on the train or at a coffee shop. In 45 minutes, I have had my fill. It is otherwise not compelling in its originality or capacity.

The articles are better than most popular magazines. I enjoy Mark Steyn and Mark Bowden, but get tired of Christopher Hitchens' proselytory writing tone.

Occasional issues have been dumbed down, ... Read More
