- The newer model is cheaper, better (p1006)
This is a sturdy little printer and I bought it to travel with me.It's so nice to have a laser printer for business and it's plenty fast.It also works on Mac's as well as Windoze XP
But, it's more expensive than the newer P1006, which has more features and 4 times more RAM.The new one is only slightly faster, but a little heaver.
And, while the new P1006 lists for $180, its selling for under $100 street price. HP ships it OVERNIGHT for free, but you pay sales tax. ... Read More

- great printer, great value
We bought this printer for just over $100.It is was easy to set up, prints very fast, and has excellent black and white quality.Exactly what we were looking for.

- HP LaserJet P1500: 'paper feed problem'
This HP LaserJet P1500 arrived seemingly intact, w/ cartridge packed inside, but never produced one page. Hardware issue: the printer had a paper feed problem that could not be fixed even w/ phone support from Tech at HP. Telephoning for help involved call being routed around a few times, but the tech eventually reached was very polite and helpful.
Hope the replacement printer works.
Rating: - too stripped down for most uses
I bought this printer recently much to my regret. It does not have the typical "stop print" and "reset" buttons that most HP and Dell printers have...only "on/off." That means you have reboot your whole system when the printer hangs up (which it frequently does). If I run out of paper in the middle of a print job, it often can't tell if I've put paper in, so it stays in suspension.It really, really sucks.

The P1005 is my first laserjet printer so I'm not too familiar with them.The printing is really beautiful and fast.I'm really satisfied with it with one exception.I use it mostly for labels and often run the sheets thru it several times.The print is fine but it also puts a very fine spray of toner over the whole sheet.It's undetectable with one pass but the sheets get darker with each pass and I have to cut masks to keep the unused labels "clean".I didn't have this problem with my inkjet ...
