- Had to quit reading
I had to quit a third of the way into the book.It was just that boring and tedious with cardboard characters all over the place with a simplistic plot.Starting with the hero and one is confronted with nothing but cardboard cut-out characters. This is less of a good story than it isRichard doing some political venting. He has witten much better books than this.

- It was ok.
I have not read Patterson so I can't judge this story to previous works. This was a case of a curiosity rather then a desire.
I did find the central character interesting to a point but I don't really think he was developed right. Senator Corey Grace was a pilot in the first gulf war and his partner dies after their plane goes down due to running out of fuel. They are captured and Corey gets tortured. One of the things I think was supposed to happen to the character was that he ... - Superb and provacative view into the Republican delemna
This is once again RNP explicating the multiple issues and attitudes in a complex social delemna. He clearly and susinctly brings to life the protagonists and antagonists in the hijacking of the "conservation ideology" of the Republican Party and the way it was manipulated into diasterous (for the whole country) alliances and distortions that have led the United States into very dangerous divisions and international shame.

- My last Patterson book.
Trite, shallow, with an obvious political bias. I wish I had spent more time with the Amazon reviews before reading the book. No more--this is my last Patterson read.

- Meh...
The premise of racism, love, and politics in the early 21st century could have worked, but not in this book. Seemed like nothing more than a grouping of "sound bites", pretentious "pundits", and People magazine. Written to make some money of Patterson's most dedicated fans, a new reader would wonder what all the fuss is. Is Patterson getting bored? Or lazy?
