Product Description:
In fewer than five years, Rachael Ray has radically changed the way America cooks dinner. Her perky-girl-next-door swagger, her catchphrases for techniques, and her dinner ideology of simpler, less expensive and just in time have sold billions of books and placed her at the top of the talent heap of food television personalities.Designed to perform on the stove or in the oven, this covered Dutch oven features a large cooking surface to roast a chicken, slow cook a hearty beef stew or simmer a three-bean chili. The lid fits snugly to lock in moisture and flavors. Large handles make it easy to transfer dinner from the stovetop or oven to the table. Cast iron provides even heating and excellent heat retention. The enamel finish means you don't have to pre-season your cookware.
Amazon.com Review:
Sometimes you can't improve on a classic. Rachel Ray's Dutch oven is an ode to the long-trusted chef's standby, with a few simple updates to make it thoroughly at home in today's kitchens. Crafted of enameled cast iron, this roomy 7-quart round pot provides even heating and superior temperature retention to thoroughly yet gently cook foods and let flavors mingle and deepen. The snug-fitting lid seals in moisture and nutrients, while the brightly colored finish and perky silicone finial take the pot right to the dining table with unmistakable cheer. The base is oven-safe to 500 degrees F and the lid is oven-safe to 350 degrees F. Because it is enameled, it doesn't require seasoning and cleans easily when washed by hand. Available in orange, blue, and green. --Kara Karll

- Beautiful but too heavy
I like the color but my husband wonders if it containing lead.I was thinking to return but it is too heavy so I even don't like to carry it out.We don't use it too often.

- Problems with handle and enamelled finish.
EDITED TO UPDATE:I contacted Meyer Cookware directly by email through their website at www.potsandpans.com about my issue with the handle coming off and received a personal phone call from a Mr. Gary Green. He offered for me to exchange it for any other pot that Meyer makes (about 10 different brands) and they are also sending me a prepaid shipping label to send my pot back to them for QA analysis. They are very concerned about safety and quality as well as customer satisfaction, so I am pleased ... - Worth it, with one hitch...
I bought this model even though Cooks Illustrated (THE best cooking mag) recommended other brands. The price was acceptable to me and I really wanted the color. Not important? Maybe, but I leave it out and it looks good with the black granite! Anyway, the one hitch is the handle on the lid. It is partially silicone and when I used the pot to bake bread (works great!), the handle started to smell up at 500 degrees F. I knew it would not handle the heat, but hoped somehow it magically would. It did not. ... Read More

- Great product, but poorly packaged when shipped
Item is great! My wife totally enjoys it and cooks with it all the time.It was received quickly and in pristine condition, but I was upset that it was not packaged in a way that would protect the product. It came in an Amazon box that did not have any of the little plastic air bag blown up.Product could have been easily damaged in transit. Also, wish that I had known prior to order that the item had to be signed upon delivery via UPS.In this case, my criticisms are directed more at Amazon than ... - Simply excellent!!
I have 5 dutch ovens.2 to 16 Qt.All are great, but this one will be my favorite.Just the right size for almost everything.Made 5 Qt. of baked beans in it yesterday.Super!Meat and fowl cooks perfectly and it is easy to clean. Cook slow and long and you can't go wrong! This will do everything just as well as the high priced brands.
