Amazon.com Product Description -- November 13, 2007:
We've been big fans of Magellan's Maestro line since it came out in early 2006. The Maestro interface is incredibly easy to use, even for those who are not completely comfortable with electronics. At the same time, Magellan was ahead of the industry with useful innovations like multi-destination routing and pre-loaded reviews for points of interest like hotels and restaurants (from AAA). With it's 3200 and 4200 series,Magellan has improved the Maestro line giving them a SirfStar III chipset that provides super-fast. satellite lock and making them thinner. In fact, at .7 inches, these are -- at the time of this writing (November 2007), the thinnest portable GPS navigators available.

Distingushing between models is also fairly easy. The 3200-series navigators feature a 3.5-inch screen, while the 4200s have a 4.3-inch widescreen display. The 3200 and 4200 offer great, basic navigation with turn-by-turn spoken directions, pre-loade maps of the 48 contiguous United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, and 1.3 million POIs. The 3210 and 4210, add maps for Canada and Alaska, AAA travel information (see details below) and bump you up to 6 million POIs. The 3220 and 4220 add maps of Mexico. The top-of-the-line 3250 and 4250 add a host of other features, including text-to-speech directions that give real street names, bluetooth for hands-free phone calls, integrated traffic (with a free 3-month subscription), and voice command.

You can even touch an onscreen icon for a nearby destination, see name and address, and get an instant route. Turn by turn visual and spoken directions guide you every step of the way.

Auto re-route gets you quickly back on track whenever you make a detour or miss a turn. QuickSpell feature intelligently searches and checks spelling when you enter addresses. The 3210 offers multiple view options, including 2D, 3D, and TrueView that shows your upcoming turn using a 3D split screen. Maneuver List displays the full turn-by-turn details of your route. Customer Reviews
Average Rating: out of 5 stars
Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - nearly unusable in Atlanta
This unit is so inaccurate in Atlanta Georgia that we don't even use it anymore. We pulled it out again to go to the GA Aquarium, biggest aquarium in the States. It put us on the wrong roads, told us we were on a road we weren't on, etc. When we finally got to the aquarium it mapped us around the building (all 4 sides) even though we were right there near the front. It shows roads and angles that do not exist in real life.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Caveat emptor - Costly Map Update
I have had the unit for less than a year and find it very convenient, but its maps are outdated and Magellan wants $79.95 for an update. Also, online support is not what I would call helpful, as it fails to give simple instructions on how to update maps.I don't know whether it was a mistake or not, but I didn't receive the usb cable you need to download the updates when I purchased the unit.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - WARNING Frustrating Product
I bought this product and found out the map and POI list was out of date.So I ordered the map update from Magellan for $80.It took Magellan 20 days to get it to me.

I tried ordering the update on the web.The web ordering process for the map update failed in the middle I could not tell if the order had gone through or not-- so I had to call customer service - terrbile language & terrible service.

I got the map update and followed the instructions to a tee. After ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Beware
I purchased this unit through Amazon exactly one year and three days ago.I cannot believe the misfortune of the unit working flawlessly for the entire period and now it is useless 3 days after the warranty expires!

The units USB port came loose so that it will not power on and is now only a paper weight. I tried calling Magellan hoping they would be sympathetic but no such luck. Basically they said eat it pal. There was no warning period of the cable getting loose, it just collapsed on ... Read More
