- GREAT CRAB POT
Don't mess with tradition...this is the same crab pot I grew up with! Simple, and practical...we use it outside on the side burner of the grill to get a good rolling boil for steam that you don't get with the new electric stove tops. The PERFECT steamer for blue crabs in the Chesapeake Bay tradition! Hint: add 2 cups of water, 2 cups of vinegar & 2 beers to the base, and bring to a boil...load live crabs in top, layering with "Old Bay" and steam til they turn red (10 min?). Rating: - steamed oysters
This steamer works extremely well on magnetic induction cooktops.I have used it to steam oysters and clams.The oyster roast was enjoyed by the whole family.I did not layer the oysters.Only did one layer at a time but the steaming liquid lasted through 5-6 batches, making it a really good size pot.

- Substandard fit
I think this product needs some work. The fit between the the top steamer insert and the bottom does not fit well and in certain cases tips over to burn the user. I think that you need to increase the size of the catch lip such that when the top kettle fits into the bottom it is more stable.

I bought this steamer to add to my two tier steamer so I now have a three tier steamer.Right price came quickly and we are enjoying it.Note this steamer does not have a spigot so not good for making broth.

Granite Ware3 piece 19 Quart Clam and Lobster Steamer Set I like my new steamer and it will serve its purpose however, I had an old one just like this one and the quality does not compare. My new steamer is not as solid but I hope will last awhile as my old steamer was almost 30 years old.
